The 2000 Ravens are truly one of the great defenses ever to play the game. Perhaps the greatest ever.
The only
Live Ball Era Super Bowl defense to come close to the 2000 Ravens was the legendary "Steel Curtain" of the 1978 Steelers. Yet even they allowed nearly 2 PPG more than the 2000 Ravens. They also had the benefit of playing in the first year of the
Live Ball Era, before offenses had exploded the way they had throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
